OUGD406
Studio Brief 03
Research

For research for this brief I found it appropriate to start with looking more into the location of the exhibition itself, Bank House is a former regional headquarters of the Bank of England so it has past links with 'money' itself but the main attraction of the building is its brutalist architecture and that it is a grade two listed building. Another benefit of the building is the location, as it is in the city centre and only a few minutes away from the train station.

The building from the outside is certainly striking, and I believe it carries resemblance from the architecture in the film 'High-Rise', in which the buildings are brutalist and have a dystopian feel, the example below shows the lobby of the high-rise which in ways has similarities to Bank House.

The space available for the exhibition inside the building has a office feel to it, when I first seen the space the office scenes from 'The wolf of wall street' came to mind, not your regular art and design related exhibition space you'd expect with white walls and lots of light.
