Initial ideas - Layout

As I was producing a guidebook I needed to consider the editorial and layout design of the book, in rough sketch form I gained an idea of the layout. I decided to make the book A5 as it this size is relevant and appropriate for its use as a guidebook. Two large columns on each page with the illustrations at the bottom of the page, the layout is consistent. The use of white space helps the illustrations be more engaging I believe. I looked at other guidebook layouts which informed the design of my layout as well as the size.
