OUGD406
Studio Brief 03
Research

I researched into a broad range current and contemporary identities for this brief, less personal identities but more event and spaces.

This identity is for a German art gallery / society that hosts cultural events including exhibitions, lectures, discussions, artist talks, studio visits and excursions. What I like about this identity is that the work on show lends itself to the galleries identity, often art galleries have basic identities aiming to not take anything away from the work on show but this identity has a strong logotype which makes it clear but have a playful effect as you can see with the folding newsletter. What I took from this identity is that the work on show in the exhibition can be presented through the identity.

The next piece of identity I looked at was helpful as it is similar to my brief, for a group show at the Institute of Applied Arts at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. The identity sticks to yellow and black to create impact but the use of typography makes it more playful, a mix of hand drawn and bold type makes this identity striking. Another playful touch is added as you can fold the printed media to create a paper aeroplane, I think this encourages the idea that the exhibition is student led.
