OUGD406
Studio Brief 04
1st year reflection

Before producing my own brief for this reflective practice brief, I needed to consider experiences, difficulties and life skills learnt this year. In the last 9 months at university I feel I've learnt more than ever and possibly changed a considerable amount due to new people, environment and being independently living. Experiences I've enjoyed include nightlife, as I'm a big music fan,  events have been an enjoyable part of my first year at university. Going to these events has lent itself to socialising too which is another valuable experience. One experience that I've encountered daily is the studio environment that has changed my way of working, improving my workflow and time management.

When I was looking back at difficulties I've encountered, the first thing that came to mind was managing my money. Prioritising alcohol and clothes over weekly food shops has happened to much this year but it is a lesson learnt. I've picked up new skills, like the obvious laundry skill learnt by many students but I've learnt social skills, which I believe is one of the biggest skills you can learn at university.

Looking back on my first week at university, freshers events were a big part of the week but I wish I had prior knowledge of the clubs / events before I went to some of them, and this isn't just in freshers but most of time I visit a club I'm unaware of. If I had advice, opinions and an insight into the clubs then maybe it could have spared me the experience of a bad night.
